READING DAY

Introduction by:
Anabel, Stephen, Danforth, Gabbie, Will, Nicholas, Thomas

On Friday, January 16, our Winter Program was canceled because it was too cold (can you believe -20 degrees!). So, we decided to have a fun reading day.
We got to bring in one stuffy, a blanket, headlamps and we could wear our pajamas!!! We built forts out of quilts, sheets and desks. We built them with our friends. We went in them and we read in them. Some of the forts kept falling down, but it was still fun when they fell down!

More about Reading Day

Before we went to lunch, Mrs. Evans came in to our class and read a book called "Me First" by Helen Lester. It was about a pig who always wanted to be first. He learned from the Sand Witch that it's not always good to be first. It was really, really fun.
After lunch, Mr. Johnk read "Thank You, Mr. Faulker", by Patricia Polacco. The book was about her when she was a child. It was very emotional but also awesomely cool. (So cool it was better than pie!)
We read a lot of books and we took Accelerated Reader quizzes on them. If you got 80% or better it would count how many words were in your book. Our total word count was over 43,000!
Reading Day was absolutely, positively awesome!
